I had a baby 12 weeks ago and I thought I’d post my two cents.
Before I got pregnant I preached about how people gain way too much weight and how women took “eating for two” too literally. Yes, you are eating for two - but one of the two people weighs less than 8 pounds.
Then I got pregnant and used it as an excuse to eat like I’d never eaten before. I gained 47 pounds.
One week after delivery I was down 25 pounds. It had to have been at least 10 pounds of water weight. I still have 14 pounds to go and have been struggling with some postpartum physical health issues (they forget to tell you about those before you get pregnant).
The bottom line is that if I ever go through another pregnancy I will stick closer to the 15-20 lb mark. Trust me, if you are cognoscente about what you eat it won’t be hard to do. It’s also important to continue exercising throughout your pregnancy at a moderate level.
p.s. When you do get pregnant -eat lots of fiber. I can’t stress this enough : )

Gorgeous baby!!!
I totally agree with everything you said…especially about the postpartum physical “fun.” It took me about 18 months to lose my baby weight; next time I will be more careful!!!
